Świnoujście is one of the easiest towns on the Baltic for a holiday with children. It is flat, the beach is very wide and sandy, and most attractions are a short walk apart. On top of that there is something other resorts do not have: a port in the middle of town and a ferry that crosses the river for free.
Our picks for families
- The beach by the promenade slopes gently into the water and has lifeguards in season. Plus ice cream and toilets in the cafés on the promenade.
- A trip on the Bielik ferry to Warszów is an adventure in itself for children: it is free on foot and takes a few minutes.
- Stawa Młyny on the breakwater, with huge ferries sailing right past.
- The lighthouse for older children who can manage 308 steps.
- The aquapark for a day when the weather lets you down.
- The Museum of Sea Fishing, with ship models and Baltic wildlife.
Practical tips
- The beach is wide: it takes a few minutes to walk from the promenade to the water. A beach trolley or a shoulder bag works better than a wheeled suitcase.
- Walking routes in Świnoujście are flat, so you can do most of them with a pushchair. There are no steps on the breakwater or the promenade.
- Choose lifeguarded bathing areas and watch the flags: white means swimming is allowed, red means it is forbidden.
