About Świnoujście
Świnoujście lies at the mouth of the Świna on the Baltic, right on the border with Germany. The centre and the beach are on Usedom, the lighthouse and forts on Wolin. The banks are linked by ferries and, since 2023, by a tunnel under the river.
It is a spa town with a long tradition and at the same time one of Poland's largest ports. In a single day you can lie on the beach, walk in the forest and watch huge ships up close.
- 44 islands the town is built on
- 1874 year Stawa Młyny was built
- 2023 opening of the tunnel under the Świna

- Route
- Start: our apartments
- Ferry
Down to the beach and east along the shore to the breakwater. At its end stands Stawa Młyny, the white windmill and symbol of the town.
- Start: our apartments
Come before sunset: the huge ferries to Sweden sail out right next to the breakwater. Return along the promenade or through Park Zdrojowy to make it a loop.
Route detailsAlong one of the longest promenades in Europe, across the border to German Ahlbeck and its historic pier with beach chairs.
- Start: our apartments
Walk back along the shore: the same route, completely different views. If your legs give up, take the UBB train from Ahlbeck back to Świnoujście Centrum.
Route detailsAcross the border and up a forest track to Golm hill, then down to the fishing harbour on the Szczecin Lagoon. At the end: fishing boats, quiet and fish straight from the smokehouse on the jetty.
- Start: our apartments
There and back is over 17 km, so set aside a whole day. It is quicker by bike: Kamminke harbour is a stop on our Loop via Golm and Kamminke route.
Route detailsIn the shade of the trees of Park Zdrojowy to the centre and along the Świna quay, where ferries and ships moor. Back along the river to the North Basin, where yachts bob on the water, with a stop at Prochownia.
- Start: our apartments
On the way there, coffee at CoffeeBar by the quay; on the way back, lunch or dinner at Prochownia. If you are short of time, turn round at the museum and go back through the park: about 5 km in all.
