Why go
Międzyzdroje is the neighbouring resort on the island of Wolin and has a completely different character from Świnoujście. The beach is narrower, and behind it rise the hills and forests of Wolin National Park, with cliffs dropping down to the sea.
What to see
- The pier, 395 metres long. The first, wooden one was built in 1884; the present one opened in 2005.
- The Promenade of Stars with handprints of famous Polish actors and artists.
- The European Bison Show Reserve of Wolin National Park on the edge of town.
- Kawcza Góra and the cliffs, reached on trails from Międzyzdroje.
Planning the trip
Half a day is enough for the town itself. Add the bison reserve, a walk up to the cliffs and the Turquoise Lake in Wapnica, and you have a full and very rewarding day.
Without a car, the easiest option is the train from Świnoujście station in Warszów. You can walk to the station from the Bielik ferry landing.
