Golden hour

The best places to watch the sunset

Where to watch the sunset in Świnoujście: the beach towards the border, the breakwater with Stawa Młyny and Warszów wild beach. With tips on when and where to stand.

An orange sky over the beach

The beach in Świnoujście faces north, so where you will see the finest sunset depends on the season.

In summer: the beach towards Germany

From May to August the sun sets in the north-west, over the sea and the coast of Usedom. The best place is on the beach looking towards Ahlbeck and Heringsdorf. The sun then sets over the water and, in good visibility, behind the German piers.

In spring and autumn: the breakwater

When the sun sets further west, the breakwater with Stawa Młyny gives the better shot: the white “windmill” against an orange sky and ferries heading out to sea.

In winter: over the land

In December and January the sun sets early and over the land. Then it is worth watching the sunset from the beach by the border, or choosing the sunrise over the sea instead: in winter the sun rises late enough that you can catch it without an early start.

We show the current sunset time on the home page. Set off an hour early: the most beautiful colours often come a quarter of an hour before and after sunset.
