The park where the resort began
Park Zdrojowy was created before Świnoujście became a fashionable resort and was greatly extended in the 19th century. It was designed by Peter Joseph Lenné, one of the most famous Prussian landscape architects. The park covers 58 hectares and has been a listed monument since 1988.
The park’s history is intertwined with that of the spa: the first bathing season in Świnoujście opened in 1824, and the first spa house was built here in 1826.
Why it is worth a visit
- It is the nicest way from the centre to the beach: instead of walking along a pavement you stroll in the shade of old trees.
- In hot weather it is noticeably cooler here than on the beach and the promenade.
- At the edge of the park stands Fort Anioła with exhibitions and a café.
- The paths are flat, so the park is good for a walk with a pushchair or with older relatives.
It is easy to make a loop from the park: along the beach to Stawa Młyny and back through Park Zdrojowy to the centre or the seaside district.
