Nature and parks

The town is spread over 44 islands and islets. Park Zdrojowy stretches between the centre and the beach, and south of town, in the Szczecin Lagoon, lie the marshy islands of the Świna backwater delta, one of the most important bird refuges in this part of Europe. About 20 km from Świnoujście, on the island of Wolin, begins Wolin National Park with its beech forests, cliffs and the Turquoise Lake.
