Forts and monuments

In the 19th century the Prussians turned Świnoujście into a fortress guarding the entrance to the port. Forts have survived on both banks of the Świna to this day: Fort Anioła (Angel Fort) and the West Fort on Usedom and Fort Gerharda on Wolin. Next to them stand the lighthouse and the navigation marks that still guide ships into the port.
