About the route

The Polish section of the Velo Baltica, the EuroVelo 10 (R10) coastal cycling route that runs along the whole coast, begins in Świnoujście. The first stage takes you to Międzyzdroje: first the free Bielik ferry across the Świna, then through Warszów and the forests of Wolin island.

What to be ready for

  • Part of the route follows forest roads that are sandy in places. A trekking or mountain bike will cope better than a road bike.
  • Cycling through the tunnel under the Świna is not allowed, which is why you start with the ferry.
  • The route is signposted with R10 and Velo Baltica signs.

In Międzyzdroje

It is worth seeing the pier and the promenade, and if you still have the energy, riding out to the European Bison Show Reserve of Wolin National Park. We describe it all on the Międzyzdroje page.

To get back you can take the same route or the train from Międzyzdroje to Świnoujście. Taking bikes on regional trains depends on the operator and how busy the train is, so check the rules before you go.
