The Museum of Sea Fishing building in Świnoujście

A museum in the old town hall

Since 1974 the museum has been housed in the former town hall, a two-storey building with a tall roof built in 1805-1809 in the neoclassical style. The decorative tower was added in 1839. It is one of the most valuable historic buildings in the centre of Świnoujście.

What you will see

  • Natural history section: Baltic wildlife and amber.
  • Maritime section: fishing gear, ship models and navigation instruments.
  • History section: documents, photographs, ceramics, furniture and coins that tell the story of the town.

It is just right for an hour or an hour and a half. Children usually remember the ship models and the stuffed animals from the Baltic coast.

Afterwards, stroll along the Świna quay, where ships and fishing boats moor, and have a coffee in one of the cafés on plac Wolności.
