About the route

In summer the sun sets in Świnoujście over the sea and the coast of Usedom, on the left as you face the water. That is why the best evening walk goes west along the beach, towards the German border: the sunset is in front of you the whole way.

At the border you go up to the promenade and walk back along it after dark. The promenade is lit, so the return is comfortable and safe.

When to go

  • From May to August the sun sets over the sea, which gives the most beautiful view.
  • In autumn and winter the sunset moves over the land. Then the breakwater by Stawa Młyny is a better spot.
  • It is worth going on a cloudy evening too: the sky over the Baltic often lights up for a moment after sunset.
