Walk

Along the beach to Stawa Młyny

Down to the beach and east along the shore to the breakwater. At its end stands Stawa Młyny, the white windmill and symbol of the town.

About the route

This is our favourite short walk and the first one we recommend to guests. From the seaside district you head down to the beach and walk east along the shore towards the mouth of the Świna. After a quarter of an hour the beach ends at the western breakwater, and at its tip stands Stawa Młyny.

Walking on sand is slower than on the promenade, but the wet sand right by the water is firm and comfortable. With a pushchair, take the paths along the dunes instead.

What you will see along the way

  • The widest part of Świnoujście’s beach and grass-covered dunes.
  • The breakwater, with views of the port entrance and the ships passing through the channel.
  • Stawa Młyny up close and, in good weather, the lighthouse on the other side of the Świna.

How to get back

The simplest way is the same route or along the promenade. If you have more time, return along the paths past the West Fort and through Park Zdrojowy: we describe this version in the Fort trail walk.

Frequently asked questions

Can you walk to Stawa Młyny with a pushchair?

Yes, but instead of the beach use the paved paths along the dunes and then the breakwater, which is flat.
